Are y'all sick of the "Guardians of the Galaxy" fever that's swept the Internet? Too bad! Because I caught it too. My short, spoiler-free review is that it was one of the most fun experiences I've ever had in a movie theatre. It was just...joy. There are plenty of better films from recent years, plenty that I have enjoyed thoroughly, but GotG is the first movie since, well, ever, that had both me and my roommate laughing, clapping, cheering, and dancing in our seats for two hours.
So, naturally I drew some fan art, of the show-stealing Groot and Rocket Raccoon (not necessarily in their film incarnations, but, my own versions of them). And proceeded to nearly destroy it while inking!
Oops. |
I thought the piece unsalvageable, but posting this photo to Facebook prompted a dozen posts of friends and fans encouraging me to rescue it. So, I busted out the white-out, and carved some of the lost figure work back out of the ink spill.
So that's why I pay $10 a bottle for this artist's white. Because it's magic. |
Then, I turned what was left of the spill into some crazy swirly streaky space landscape.
SPAAAAAAACE. |
The final result:
I am Groot! |
Moral of the story is, sometimes when something seems ruined, it just needs a fresh perspective, a little white-out, and a lot of love. And a bunch of people on Facebook coming to its rescue.
And now here's dancing baby Groot, because it's cute, that's why. |
